I’ve always had a bunch of universes living inside me. As a kid, I’d draw maps of imaginary towns, sew clothes for my Barbies, direct movie trailers, and bind homemade storybooks using thread. I still do these things as an adult—though now the clothes I make are “me”-sized.
I’m a multi-disciplinary creative, however, at my core I am a writer. I love all forms of writing—screenplays, essays, articles, songs, fiction, and poetry. I draw inspiration from nature, history, books I’m reading, current events, and the everyday. I like making the ordinary my subject because even the most mundane tasks can be magical. Sharing a meal, how the sunlight warms one’s skin, how an embrace from a loved one makes one feel, and other simple experiences all hold a sacredness I wish to document.
I was born in the Midwest and lived there until I was six when my family and I moved to Los Angeles. Growing up in L.A., I was surrounded by different cultures, the creative industries, and (most importantly) better weather. At thirteen, I joined WriteGirl and my creative writing skills flourished. Their guidance helped me become confident in experimenting stylistically and sharing my work with others.
At one of the WriteGirl workshops, I received this advice: “The more personal you write, the more universal your piece will be.” That saying became my principle. Writing eases the discomfort I feel about being vulnerable and expressing myself. My writing, especially my poetry, is the rawest version of me. When I share my work, I’m happy that people can connect to it despite how personal the inspiration or subject matter may be.

Since moving to England for university, my portfolio has expanded. I’ve pursued solo and collaborative projects, and plan to complete more before I graduate. My teachers, mentors, and peers often praise me for my strong work ethic and ability to obtain my goals. When I have a vision, I make it come true through dedication and patience. I don’t apply limits when it comes to my creativity.
I approach life with curiosity and playfulness like a child. While my maturity grounds me, my youthful outlook keeps my mind fresh. My aspiration is always to exercise and expand my creative universe.
